Bad Banked Blood

As we continue studying the human body, realize that all technologies may not benefit the masses. Watch the following video and explain why stored blood, while maintaining the ability to carry oxygen, cannot provide the body with its needs after a blood transfusion. What does this cause the blood vessels to do? Can this be fixed? How do you feel about blood transfusions now?

Because blood tranfusions take out a gas substance that keeps the vessles open, the vessels are constricted which could be a cuase to the heart attacks!! Scientists have found a way to replaace the gas so yes this can be fixed!! I feel that if u can stay away from blood transfusions then do so if not then it would be ok do have one!!!

The blood vessles close because the gaes that usually keep them open go into the blood. I'm sure it can be fixed...in time. I would not want them. But if they were the only thing that could save me then I would probly take them.

It decreases blood flow to the blood vessels, causing heart attacks. The scientists at Duke University have found a way to add nitric oxide back to the banked blood. I personally don't like blood transfusion because there could be something that the doctors overlooked in the blood that could kill you.

if they took out the blood directly from the vesil it would still have the gas in it, I think.

It causes the blood vessels to constrict. This is a scary thing to learn about blood transfusions. Scientists are working on a way to fix it now

Stored blood may not lose oxygen, but it does lose nitric oxide, which is important for opening blood vessles. Because of the lack of this gas in stored blood, instead of opening blood vessles, it closes it. This happens because the stored blood takes the already present nitric oxide from the tissues it flows through. This closing of blodd vessels decreases blood flow, which leads to heart attacks. This stored blood can be fixed easily, though, by simply adding more nitric oxide to it. Because of this, blood transfusions are perfectly safe, as long as the blood that is being used is supplimented by the extra nitric oxide.

That substance that went away was needed to expand our veins and with out we die. And personally i dont think we can cure it.

well a gas that was in the vessles go to the blood, that opened the vessels, which may cause heart attachs. smart people, unlike me, did some studies and now they can fix that problem. i say just don't do it or at least try to stay away from it.

You always hear of blood transfusions helping people. I did not know that this lead to possible heart attacks. To hear they can ad nitrous oxide to the mixture to make the blood carry the oxygen to the body is great. This will save more lives and help people get better faster.

One reason is that it loses Nitric Oxide faster than fresh blood. Which not keeps the blood vesels open. That increaes the risk of heart attack and stroke

Make vessels open by gas during tranfusion , can be fixed by doctors, wouldnt do it
